Alabama Society of the Sons of the American Revolution
The Richard Henry Lee Chapter was first chartered on February 7, 1953, in Auburn, Alabama. It was re-chartered on October 27, 1993, replacing the original charter that had lapsed. The driving force behind the re-chartering was the dedicated efforts of Walter C. Dorsey, Sr., and Dr. James Edgar Foy V, Dean of Students at Auburn University.
This chapter serves East Central Alabama, including Auburn, Opelika, Smiths Station, Tuskegee, Alexander City, and the surrounding communities. Since our founding, the Richard Henry Lee Chapter has remained active at the local, state, and national levels.
Whether sponsoring patriotic poster contests in local schools, marking the graves of Revolutionary War Patriots, participating in 4th of July with our Color Guard, or educating the public about our nation’s founding, we offer many opportunities to serve our community and honor the sacrifices made by our Patriot Ancestors of the United States of America.
The Sons of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-partisan, organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American History, and teaching our History to future generations.
