William Mullins was born in1760 in South Carolina. He died in 1845, in Macon County,
Alabama. (Alabama Patriots Searchable Database, 2026) 27 William served as a militia soldier
from South Carolina during the American Revolutionary War, likely entering service in the later
years of the conflict when fighting in the southern colonies intensified. Like many men of his age
and region, his service consisted of short militia tours rather than continuous enlistment,
responding to local calls to defend against British and Loyalist forces. South Carolina militia
units were heavily involved in backcountry warfare, including patrols, skirmishes, and protection
of settlements during the British southern campaigns. While no specific battle is firmly
documented in standard summaries, his service would have contributed to the broader Patriot
resistance that weakened British control in the South. After the war, he migrated to Alabama,
where he died in Macon County in 1845. The location of his gravesite is unknown.
